2009 Star Camp Shasta : Water Goddess

Star Camp is a gorgeous 40 acre campsite for special events, located outside Mt. Shasta near the Klamath National Forest, at an elevation of 6300 feet. It has a seasonal lake, Lake Lure, which turns into a large meadow in late summer. There is also a lake perfect for swimming all summer called Indian Lake.
Work Party: July 31-Aug 2
Main Event: Sept 4-7
The main sound system will be in the meadow and feature Psytrance. The second sound system will be on the beach and feature other types of electronic music. Performers will be announced in August.
As you may have heard, last year’s Star Camp Shasta event was a big success and everyone had a great time! We had a total of about 140 people and we hope that this year we will have about double the number of people we had last year.
This year we are happy to announce that the event will be on Sept 4-7 2009 (Labor Day weekend). Admission this year is a $20 donation. It is happening during Burning Man, as an alternative for people who cannot go this year, or ones who feel they have graduated from it and want to participate in something new that will develop and sustain for years to come. It is for those of you who prefer to be swimming in a fresh water lake and camping out under the stars shaded by trees on 40 acres of private land in Mt. Shasta. Why not try something new!
We are looking for crew, volunteers, artists, visuals, etc. Please contact us if you would like to participate. We have a very good idea of who will perform this year, but there are a few dj slots open…please contact us if you are interested in performing. We are also looking for star camp crew! Volunteers/Crew people will receive free admission to the main event. Please contact us prior to the event so we can fill the positions available.

But before we plan all the music etc, there is some work that needs to get done. Every year, we gather on a weekend leading up to the main event, called the “Work Party”. It is a chance for us to set up the party, play some music, enjoy the fresh air, and help clean up the grounds to make space for people to camp. In 1990, the lands were logged which left a pretty decent mess of branches and logs. We’ve been cleaning it up nicely for years, but, there is always more wood to collect, pile up, and burn…so let’s do that so that you guys can have ample camping spots! It is also an opportunity to set up installations and artwork, set up the party, to develop a crew, and for interested dj’s to showcase themselves. We are looking for participants of every kind, whatever it is that you do! Music, Food, Skilled Labor, Visuals, Performance, Art, etc. We will have a small sound system set up to entertain ourselves…with PLENTY of time slots open. It is really lots of fun and an opportunity to get to meet some new friends. We are open to hearing all your suggestions.
